Frequently Asked Questions

What is an arborist?

An arborist is a trained professional that specialises in the health and care of trees. They are qualified tradespeople who understand the biological function of trees, sustainable tree management and proper techniques for pruning and removing trees.

An arborist understands and practices strategic climbing techniques to ensure there is no harm done to the tree or people around it.

Not all tree service companies employ arborists. Tree loppers and other tree removers have not undertaken horticultural training and are not qualified to practice tree surgery or give advice on tree health and management.

I received a notice from Evo Energy to clear trees away from power lines on my property, what should I do?

Canberra property owners need to keep trees located on their property clear of power lines and utility infrastructure including power poles, sub-stations, meters and underground cables. This increases public safety and reduces the risk of black-outs, electrocutions and fires.

If your trees are less than 1.5 metres away from these services, Evo Energy will issue a notice to have the vegetation pruned or removed. You must use an Evo Energy-accredited tree surgeon to perform the work as they are authorised and trained to work safely when close to power lines.

Gold Leaf Tree Services are Evo Energy (formerly ActewAGL) accredited and can safety perform tree work near power lines.
